Bazza, Thanks for taking the time to do this interview with ProfessionalGaming.co.uk, to start, how are things going for you at the moment in your professional career and what are your plans for the future?

Things are moving on smoothly for me right now, the first year in the Championship Gaming Series (CGS) was just amazing and I am now just looking forward to the next upcoming CGS combine, so I am training hard to make sure I am at the top of my game when the tournament comes around. I just hope that I will continue to be apart of what is, without doubt, the world’s biggest professional gaming league for the future. I have the FIFA Interactive World Cup UK Final coming up on April 16th, in Manchester, where I and 15 others will play for the chance to represent the UK at the world finals in Berlin, Germany. I will be sure to train as hard as possible for this event; as if I win it will be my second FIWC UK Title, and my third consecutive FIWC world final.

As for the distant future, I hope to become a full-time FIFA player once this year’s college has finished, so I can fully dedicate my time without wondering about college work etc.

Do you have any plans for a career outside of Gaming?

Yes! I hope that in the future, I can work in the field of gaming as it’s just what I enjoy most. At the moment I am studying 3D Animation & Visual Effects for my National Diploma at College, and I hope that in the future I will forge a career in the game development market, as it’s something I know I would be good at.

Who do you fear most as rivals?

Every single game I play, I play against a rival. I try not to 'fear' anyone, and would rather try to analyse my opponent’s game, and work on trying to beat them for the future. There is always going to be someone out there trying to take your position, and so I have to make sure that I am good enough to take out my rivals when I need to, and of course, whoever else is thrown my way!

Are you confident that you can continue your pro Fifa career at the high level it has been the past few years?

Definitely, In FIFA you tend to get new names floating about the top of the leader boards every year, but there are only a select few who can consistently be the best in the world, on every FIFA game. I have a natural passion for football in general, and love playing football on the virtual pitch just as much, so I don’t need any more determination than I already do in order to get to the top! :)

What is the key to your success?

Never underestimating my opponents for a start, and of course you need the focus and determination to play under the pressure of the big lights and the crowds. I can easily block out all the cameras, and the thought of people watching me as I am so focused on what I am doing on screen. I think it takes a special type of player to be able to hold there nerve when it comes to the big games, and so to be a big name player, you need to be able to pull off those big wins. Did I mention practice? It certainly helps ;) I tend to practice between 10-20 hours a week at the moment, but once college finishes I think I will be able to hit 40+ as I will have a lot more spare time on my hands.

How do you feel about the CGS?

The CGS is an amazing opportunity for anyone who has ever dreamed about turning professional. It’s run by complete professionals who have a real vision of what they want, and I just can't wait to see what the future holds, as its most definitely going to be a very bright one. Look out for the CGS-O; these are the CGS online ladders/tournaments which are coming soon! (Halo 3, COD4, 1.6) If you want to find out anything more on the CGS, just visit www.thecgs.com. It’s definitely worth trying out for.

Do you see any up and coming Fifa players that we should watch out for?

Well there were a few interesting picks in the American CGS Combine, some new faces thrown into the mix such as Eafra, Barnoa. In the UK there are a few decent upcoming players, such as CS and Sherif who are definitely ones to look out for in the future.

Michael.
